The president of the Consumers’ Union of Armenia thinks it is necessary to establish stricter control over children’s food and toys given that most shops offering those products do not have quality certificates.
Speaking to Tert.am, Armen Poghosyan complained particularly about the quality of Chinese toys.
“A Chinese product is junk, but what we see on Armenia’s toy market is of Chinese origin in 90% of cases,” he told Tert.am, stressing the importance of ensuring the best for the children.
As for the food, Poghosyan noted that there are no proper control mechanisms, especially in the kindergartens.
“Bacteria in food is a target issue for us, as that’s our weak point. There are minutiae that have to be taken into consideration, but in most cases that’s being overlooked,” he said, adding that meat products and bakery are of utmost importance after dairy products.
