An activist of the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC), Zoya Tadevosyan, has addressed first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s silence on the upcoming presidential election and the possibility of the alliance’s future cooperation with the Prosperous Armenia party (PAP).
Ms Tadevosyan, when asked in an interview to the press whether ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s silence is acceptable to you, you said, ‘There is silence that has the worth of gold. So this is just the case for that. Silence helps take a right decision. I suppose there will be time for speaking and having everything out after this silence.’ So when will that time finally arrive?I cannot talk about timeframes, but that will be in December, probably in the first ten-day period. It was announced that Levon Ter-Petrosyan will make a speech at the rally. He certainly will. Once a decision is made, the political board will hold a session to appoint the date of the rally. And it is necessary to make the decision public. And what about the prevalent moods in the political board, given the possibility of having a united candidate, including Gagik Tsarukyan? They are contradictory, but it isn’t the moods that trouble us; the problem consists in the real and pragmatic steps towar ds getting rid of the gang rule and eventually toppling the regime. Unless we demonstrate a pragmatic approach and make narrow party interests subordinate values, we will never solve the problem we face.Ms Tadevosyan, Nikol, Pashinyan of the Armenian National Congress unveiled recently a through analysis highlighting the artificial nature of the separation between the second and third presidents’ political teams. Does call into question your call for struggling the gang rule?”Both the second and third presidents have a certain role in our political life, so we can all make judgments from their visible and non-visible steps. But whatever the case, we rely on the first president’s wisdom.
