The Eastern Partnership summit of the European People’s Party (EPP) stressing Armenia’s growing Western orientation, took place in Yerevan last week.

The summit was attended by European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat, EPP Chairman Wilfried Martens and others.

At the conclusion of the Summit a so-called “Yerevan Declaration” was adopted.

“The talks between Armenia and the European Union about the agreement on visa facilitation have been completed and the document will be signed within a few days and will take effect before mid-2013,” Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said after the summit.
