Armenia Perceived as Slightly Less Corrupt in 2012

Armenia ranked 105th in the 2012 Corruption Perceptions Index just released by Transparency International that includes176 countries and territories. 

With a score of 34, Armenia is on par with Algeria, Bolivia, Gambia, Kosovo, Mali, Mexico and the Philippines regarding the perceived level of public sector corruption. 

The Corruption Perceptions Index scores countries on a scale from 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean). 

Armenia’s 2102 results are a slight improvement over its 2011 ranking of 129 and 29 score. 

Georgia, Armenia’s neighbor to the north, was ranked in 51st place with a score of 52. 

Azerbaijan did much worse with a ranking of 139 and a score of 27.
