Political analysts in Yerevan do not rule out the possibility that after refusing to further use a radar station in Azerbaijan, Russia may wish to build a similar facility in Armenia.

Experts note that the station in Gabala was important to Russia and enabled it to track activity in the entire region and that Moscow would like to continue to possess that possibility.

“The station allowed Russia to track the movements of U.S. or Iranian warships in the Indian Ocean. In a certain way it also played the role of a military base,” political analyst Sergey Shakaryants said at a press conference on Wednesday.
