World Mind Games: Aronian, Danielian outside top places in blitz, rapid chess in China

Top Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian finished in fourth place among 16 competitors in the Blitz section of the World Mind Games in Beijing, China.

Women’s grandmaster Elina Danielian finished 13th among 16 rivals in a similar tournament held among female chess players.

Russians Sergey Karjakin and Alexandra Kosteniuk won the Blitz tournaments among men and women, respectively.

Earlier, Aronian and Danielyan were also outside the top spots in the Rapid event.

The prestigious chess tournament in China is organized in three formats – rapid, blitz and blind chess and will run through December 19.
