Michel Legrand to present his new work dedicated to Armenian Genocide

Renowned French composer Michel Legrand arrived in Rostov-on-Don from Paris to give just once concert.
Russia-based Armenian paper Yerkramas reports that the famous composer met with his fans and representatives of the Armenian community. As was expected, the concert tickets were sold a month before.
The representatives of the Armenian community invited maestro for the ceremonial dinner but he refused to attend it, saying his age does not allow attending such events any more.
“I have performed in different corners of the world, Armenians organized dinners in my honor and invited me. When I was young I was receiving the invitations with great pleasure. But years pass and I am getting tired after concerts being forced to decline the invitations. I am already 80,” he said.
The musician said next year he is going to give a concert in Armenia. Besides, he will bring with him his new music composition dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide. Legrand’s relatives, from mother’s side were also the victims of the atrocities.
“It [music composition] will be unusual for my listener. I have not yet decided the name but I am not excluding ‘Armenia’s Requiem’ variant. What happened in 1915 in the Ottoman Turkey is a horrible,” he said.
