Armenia=?UTF-8?B?4oCZ?=s health minister receives MSF reps

Armenia’s Minister of Health Derenik Dumanyan received on Tuesday Annabelle Djeribi, Head of Mission, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and Medical Coordinator Saiful Qayyum. Minister Dumanyan stressed Armenia’s cooperation with the MSF in TB diagnostics and treatment.Annabelle Djeribi presented the MSF’s mission, achievements and new initiatives.Since 2005, the MSF has rendered medical assistance to 972 patients affected by drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB), with 225 being treated now.The head of the MSF mission in Armenia informed Minister Dumanyan that the MSF plans the first visit to of a team of surgeons to Armenia for next February.The MSF team will perform surgeries at the Abovyan TB clinic and hold training courses for the local medical staff.Minister Dumanyan welcomed the proposal.The sides also discussed issues of medicine distribution, import of surgical facilities, and further cooperation.
