Vote 2013: Raffi Hovannisian expects truly ‘competitive=?UTF-8?B?4oCZ?= presidential race

Raffi Hovannisian, the founding leader of the opposition Heritage party who is contesting next month’s presidential election as a self-nominated candidate, rejects notions that the outcome of the ballot in favor of the incumbent is a foregone conclusion and that there will be no real competition during the race.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Hovannisian, a U.S.-born politician who served as independent Armenia’s first foreign minister in 1992 and is running for president for the first time [due to having met the 10-year citizenship requirement], said that such an opinion prevailing in Armenia these days is a “false category” that has nothing to do with “the truth, the rights of a citizen of the Republic of Armenia and the significance of the upcoming election.”
