Armenia introduces visa-free regime for travelers from EU beginning today

January 10, 2013 Leave a comment Go to comments

Armenia has unilaterally abolished the visa regime for citizens of European Union member countries and Switzerland and the measure becomes effective today.

Beginning January 10, citizens of EU member states can visit Armenia and stay in the country without a visa for 90 days. The same applies to citizens of Switzerland which is not an EU member state but is in the Schengen zone.

Thus Armenia becomes the fourth EU Eastern Partnership member country after Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova to have unilaterally eliminated the visa regime for Europeans. Armenia itself has a bilateral visa-free regime with more than 20 countries, including Georgia, Russia and most part of the post-Soviet countries.

The visa facilitation process between Armenia and the EU is currently in process.
