The Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) has denied media reports claiming that national team coach Vardan Minasyan is among candidates to head Russian Premier League side FC Kuban.

According to Izvestia.ru, after the dismissal of Yuri Krasnozhan as Kuban’s head coach, Minasyan was considered as a top candidate to fill the vacancy, but FFA President Ruben Hayrapetyan opposed the idea. The Armenian soccer boss, as alleged by the Russian paper, thought that combining his current job with coaching a Russian club could harm Minasyan’s work for the national team.

In a statement released on Wednesday the FFA reiterated that Minasyan has never received any offer to become the head coach of FC Kuban and that all media reports to the contrary are mere speculations.
