Ruling party decides Tigran Sargsyan to continue as PM

The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) has endorsed the reappointment of Tigran Sargsyan as prime minister of the government to be formed in the next three weeks.

President Serzh Sargsyan chaired the Thursday evening meeting of the RPA executive body, which also provided guarantees that two other members of the government, namely Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, will stay in the next government.

Under the Constitution, the president shall appoint a new prime minister within 10 days after his inauguration (which was on April 9). The prime minister then has 20 days to form the new Cabinet.
