“I am confident that the resolute measures taken by the government of China will make it possible to quickly overcome this calamity and eliminate its consequences,” Sargsyan said in the letter, according to the presidential press office. “Sharing your grief and that of the friendly Chinese people, I wish a speedy recovery to the injured, resilience and fortitude to the families of the victims and the whole people of China.”

At least 188 people are known to have died in the 6.6 magnitude quake that struck China’s Sichuan province on Saturday. More than 11,500 others have also been reported injured.
