Police: Two criminal cases on election-related violations instituted during campaign period

The Armenian Police instituted two criminal cases on the basis of reports on violations received during the period of the campaign ahead of the May 5 elections to Yerevan’s Council of Elders.

In a report released today the Police said a total of 23 cases were under review – 11 of them concerning election bribes, 6 concerning obstruction of campaigning, 2 concerning beating and quarrels, while one concerning obstruction of media work, hindrance to holding of assemblies, campaigning on the ‘day of silence’, and obstruction to a voter’s free will each.

Of these cases 2 were dismissed as baseless, on 3 no wrongdoing was found, while 16 are still being investigated.
